Adaptec AAA RAID Products
SCSI RAID Option Card ARO-1130SA (ARO-1130B)

Mfg. Part Number:
Adaptec 1662406-01, Bulk without accessory.

Features & Benefits:
Adaptec's ARO-1130SA RAID option card optimizes performance and provides fault-tolerant storage for entry-level servers. Systems with embedded Adaptec AIC-7895 or AIC-7880 Ultra SCSI chips can be easily upgraded from SCSI to RAID by installing this low-cost option card. This card is ideal for improving data availability without sacrificing performance in systems with a PCI-RAIDport II connector on the system motherboard. The ARO-1130SA RAID option card utilizes the already embedded Ultra SCSI chips as RAID channels to reduce complexity and cost. It supports Wide Ultra SCSI, Fast/Wide SCSI and SCSI devices from major vendors and works under Windows NT and Netware operating systems. RAID levels 0 (striping), 1 (mirroring), 0/1 and 5 are supported by the ARO-1130SA. The card uses Adaptec's AIC-7815 RAID co-processor to manage DRAM memory and offload RAID 1 secondary writes and RAID 5 parity calculations from the host CPU, freeing it for other tasks. Advanced RAID features include hot spare support, hot swap of drives, SAF-TE support, hot spare testing, user-defined rebuild and verify priority, bootable array support and array status and monitoring and event notification. The ARO-1130SA is easy to install with Adaptec's ArrayConfigSA software. Just install the option card into the RAIDport II PCI slot, run the software and follow a few simple menu-driven steps to configure drives into arrays. Fault tolerance is enhanced because users can set up initial array configuration before installing the operating system. Adaptec's CI/O Management Software provides convenient array management allowing users to troubleshoot problems remotely, schedule management activities and keep track of everything that happens via event logs. Drives equipped with Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) report predicted failures to the CI/O Management software. This advanced warning allows network managers to activate a spare remotely before problems arise. This option card uses two SCSI channels, supports up to 15 devices per channel and features Bus Master DMA interface protocol.
