Blades are thin, modular Servers that can be inserted into a space-saving rack with many similar Servers. The reduced dimensions of Blades allow users to fit over 250 Servers in the same space as conventional 42-Server racks, while their reduced power consumption leads to additional cost savings.
Due to its reduced size and height, Very Low Profile DIMMs memory is the perfect module for Blade Servers. It can be placed vertically rather than at an angle on the memory socket of the Blade, resulting in a space increase of 60 % and consequently improved airflow. The memory array is designed with 2Gbit (1Gbit Dual-Dies) Double-Data-Rate-Two (DDR2) Synchronous DRAMs. The VLP DIMM is available with 128M × 72 (4GB) in organization and density, intended for mounting into 240-pin connector sockets.
